چکیده
Abstract Interference is an important limitation in many communication systems. It has been shown situations that the popular Gaussian approximation not adequate and interference exhibits impulsive behavior. This paper surveys different statistical models proposed for such interference, can generally be unified using class of sub-exponential family distributions, its impact on receiver design. Visualizing optimal decision boundaries allows one to show non linear effect induced by noise models, which explains significant loss performance designed under standard approximation. motivates need develop new receivers. We propose a framework design receivers robust variety types, both non-Gaussian. explore three ways thinking about designs: approach; approximating plus distribution; mimicking rule distribution directly. Except approach, other designs are capable replicating non-trivial regions extents. The detection algorithms evaluated via Monte Carlo simulations. focus four efficient architectures, including parameter estimations: Myriad, Normal Inverse Gaussian, p -norm direct estimation likelihood ratio function. They exhibit good performance, close optimal, large range demonstrating they may considered as rules presence heavy tailed or environments.

MIMO Receiver Design in Impulsive Noise
Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) receivers have been typically designed and their communication performance studied in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise. While this is an accurate model for the thermal noise present at the receiver, it falls short of modeling the radio frequency interference (RFI) that may affect the transceivers. RFI is a combination of independent radiation events ...
متن کاملAlpha-Stable Modeling of Noise and Robust Time-Delay Estimation in the Presence of Impulsive Noise
A new representation of audio noise signals is proposed, based on symmetric -stable (S S) distributions in order to better model the outliers that exist in real signals. This representation addresses a shortcoming of the Gaussian model, namely, the fact that it is not well suited for describing signals with impulsive behavior. The -stable and Gaussian methods are used to model measured noise si...
متن کاملPerformance Analysis and Receiver Design for SDMA-Based Wireless Networks in Impulsive Noise
In this paper, performance analysis and receiver design in the uplink of SDMA-based wireless systems are performed in the presence of impulsive noise modeled as a symmetric alpha-stable process. The optimal receiver and several suboptimal receivers are proposed and the symbol-error-rates (SER) or upper bound of SER of the receivers are derived. Simulation results show the proposed receivers can...
متن کاملRobust stochastic resonance: signal detection and adaptation in impulsive noise.
Stochastic resonance (SR) occurs when noise improves a system performance measure such as a spectral signal-to-noise ratio or a cross-correlation measure. All SR studies have assumed that the forcing noise has finite variance. Most have further assumed that the noise is Gaussian. We show that SR still occurs for the more general case of impulsive or infinite-variance noise. The SR effect fades ...
متن کاملRobust Automatic Speech Recognition in the Presence of Impulsive Noise
This letter presents a technique for suppressing the effect of any type of impulsive noise in the context of Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR). The present study suggests the interposition in the Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) feature extraction front-end of a) an identification stage responsible for the detection of corrupted cepstral vectors and b) a restoration stage that acts l...
